Banking on Kindness – Giving Tuesday: 10 Ways to Give Back or Pay It Forward

11/01/2024

As the state’s leader in community banking, Bank of New Hampshire is committed to creating better communities. Banking on Kindness is an initiative we have created that is dedicated to making a difference in our communities. However, Banking on Kindness isn’t all about sponsorships and investing, here are 10 ways you can give back or pay it forward on this Giving Tuesday to make a difference.

Donate your credit card rewards

Donating your credit card rewards is a great way to give back. If you’re in a stable financial situation and can’t figure out what to do with the accumulated cash back, considering donating it. You can donate directly to a charity or create a gift card to donate.

Pay for the person behind you

Have you ever had your coffee paid for by the person in front of you? This Giving Tuesday pay it forward or start the trend by paying for the person behind you. It’s an easy way to make someone’s day!

Donate items

Consider donating to a local charity. Donate canned goods that have been sitting in your cabinets to your local food pantry. Donate old clothes or other household items that have been sitting in your closet to thrift stores and other donation centers.

Donate blood

Consider donating blood on this Giving Tuesday. This easy and simple donation could save a life, what better way to give back!

Volunteer for a non-profit

Have a free Saturday afternoon? Consider volunteering at your local charity. This helpful act will mean so much and who knows, you might even have fun!

Start a little free library

Have an overflow of old books? Start a little free library to allow those who haven’t read those books the ability to do so.

Leave surprises around town

Hide a little note somewhere or write a quote on the sidewalk. Leave a gift card or cash at the gas station. Little things that may seems insignificant can go a long way.

Donate to a charity

Consider donating to a charity that resonates with you. No matter how small the donation, it will make a difference!

Choose small businesses

Going out to eat or grabbing a coffee? Consider stopping at a local small business instead of your regular franchise. Don’t forget to share your experience and leave a great review!

Round up for charity

When checking out at a store, if they offer a round up for charity, round up! Those couple cents will be more useful to them than you!

No matter how small, giving back is easy this Giving Tuesday. Visit our Banking on Kindness page to learn more about how we give back to communities around the state.
