Employee Spotlight: Ash Cotton’s Journey with Bank of New Hampshire

From Bank Services Representative to Technical Support Analyst
Ash’s journey with Bank of New Hampshire began in July 2016, when she joined the team as a Bank Services Representative (BSR). Like many of our employees, Ash’s path has been one of continuous learning and growth. Over time, Ash discovered her natural ability to troubleshoot technology issues, a skill that proved invaluable in her role as a BSR.
“I realized in 2018 that I had a knack for computer technology,” Ash recalls. “I used those skills in my day-to-day work to ensure our office’s operations ran smoothly. I was even handpicked to test new features because of my technological knowledge.”
This realization marked a turning point in Ash’s career. Driven by a desire to pursue her passion for technology, she set her sights on a role within BNH’s Information Technology Department. Through sheer determination and hard work over the past eight years, Ash landed her dream job as a Technical Support Analyst.
Why Bank of New Hampshire?
Ash’s decision to join BNH was influenced by a family member who informed her of the job opening. “I was unhappy in my current work environment, and a family member let me know that BNH was hiring,” she explains. “With BNH being a local company, I knew there would be better opportunities for me to grow and advance my career.”
And grow she did. The supportive culture at BNH played a significant role in Ash’s career development. “BNH’s incredible Information Technology team continuously empowers me to be my best self every day,” Ash says. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without their support.”
Memorable Achievements and Motivations
Among Ash’s many accomplishments at the Bank, one stands out in particular: being selected for a Mission Possible award for Employee Engagement. “Besides starting my career in IT, this was my most memorable achievement,” she shares. “Giving the best experience possible on the IT Service Desk comes naturally to me, but it was heartwarming to have that dedication recognized.”
When asked what keeps her motivated, Ash points to the daily collaboration with her team. “Collaborating with my team to find solutions to day-to-day problems is my favorite thing about working at BNH. Where there is a will, there is a way.”
Describing Her Career in One Word
If Ash could describe her career at BNH in one word, it would be Fulfilling. She explains, “I have always been a fixer. I get a lot of satisfaction from troubleshooting and fixing the various issues that BNH employees face in their workday. I know how important it is to have technology that works reliably and I take great pride in knowing that when they call the service desk, we are happy and equipped to help.”
Words of Advice for Aspiring Professionals
Ash’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and belief in oneself. Her advice to anyone starting their career? “Don’t ever listen to anyone who tells you that you can’t do something. Nothing is impossible as long as you have the drive and determination to achieve your dreams.”
