Employee Spotlight: Douglas Morrissette’s Journey with Bank of New Hampshire

Today, we highlight the inspiring journey of Douglas Morrissette, whose career at Bank of New Hampshire began over a decade ago. From his first day as a seasonal part-time Bank Services Representative (BSR) to his current role as Commercial Credit Officer, Doug’s story is one of dedication, growth, and a deep commitment to his community.

From Humble Beginnings to Leadership Roles

Doug’s career with BNH began in May 2011, when he joined as a seasonal BSR while attending the University of New Hampshire. What started as a part-time job quickly turned into a full-fledged career. “I began as a seasonal part-time BSR while attending UNH, then continued working part-time at the Dover office until January 2014,” Doug recalls. His drive and passion didn’t go unnoticed, and soon after, he transitioned to the Commercial Department as a Commercial Services Representative.

Doug’s journey did not stop there. In 2016, he took on the role of Portfolio Manager/Workout Specialist, where he honed his skills in managing commercial accounts and problem-solving. His commitment to excellence led to his promotion in 2022 to Commercial Credit Officer, a position that allows him to play a key role in the Bank’s commercial lending activities.

Why Banking? Why BNH?

For Doug, the decision to pursue a career in banking was influenced by his deep roots in the Lakes Region. “I was born and raised in the Lakes Region and was very familiar with BNH. I saw an opening at the Dover office while I was studying at UNH. From there, I continued to find ways to advance my career, and still to this day I enjoy working at BNH.”

BNH’s commitment to supporting its employees’ growth and development has been a significant factor in Doug’s career advancement. “BNH continues to support their employees to assist them in further advancement. I have gone to Commercial Banking School in Massachusetts and Leadership Lakes Region. Both of these have helped me gain experience and knowledge to further advance in my banking career,” he explains.

One of Doug’s favorite aspects of working at BNH is the Bank’s emphasis on work-life balance and its genuine care for its employees. “BNH cares about their employees and their work-life balance, which is important to me,” Doug says. This supportive environment has not only helped him thrive professionally but has also allowed him to give back to his community through involvement with local nonprofits.

When asked to describe his career at BNH in one word, Doug chose Dedicated. His dedication to advancing his career, improving efficiencies within the Bank, and giving back to the community is evident in every aspect of his professional journey.

For those just starting their careers, Doug offers sage advice: “Make sure you don’t become complacent and continue to find ways to push yourself.” His words serve as a reminder that success is built on a foundation of continuous growth, perseverance and a commitment to excellence.
