Bank of New Hampshire Donates $5,000 to Our Place NH’s Dover Housing Project

Laconia, New Hampshire – May 19, 2026 – New Hampshire’s population of 27,000 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) faces an alarming shortage of affordable housing and supportive services. The need is especially urgent for the approximately 73% of adults in the IDD community who currently live with a family caregiver, nearly one-third of whom are age 60 or older.
Through its Light the Way Home campaign, Our Place NH is building affordable homes to help address the housing shortage for the IDD community, creating opportunities for residents to grow, connect and flourish. Bank of New Hampshire recently contributed $5,000 to support the campaign.
“We’re honored to support Our Place NH and this meaningful project to provide affordable housing for the individuals and families they serve,” said Melissa Williams, AVP – Dover Banking Office Manager. “We share the belief that a home provides a sense of belonging and dignity, empowering individuals and families to live independently.”
The organization purchased its first property in Dover, a former daycare center that will be renovated into 11 one- and two-bedroom apartments. Each space will include kitchen appliances, a living room and a bathroom. The property will also feature shared spaces, including a kitchen, dining room and living area, designed to foster connection, friendship and community life.
“We appreciate Bank of New Hampshire’s support in transforming our first property into a supportive living environment for the IDD community,” said Laurie McIntosh, MS/OT, Our Place NH Board Chair. “With their help, we can expand this model of inclusion, stability and hope for future generations.”
Located in Dover, NH, Our Place NH is a 501(c)3 community-based nonprofit organization driven by the community, powered by families and united by a shared vision: to redefine how New Hampshire supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
