I Love Saving Club for Kids and Teens

Your child’s financial education
starts here.

It’s never too early to begin teaching kids to save, which will set them up to accomplish future financial goals. A parent-monitored savings account can introduce them to banking and encourage them to save towards a goal, whether big or small. At Bank of New Hampshire, we’re committed to helping New Hampshire families build strong financial futures.

With a bank account for minors from BNH, kids and teens can start saving with no minimum balance requirement, online and mobile banking for minors, plus an account opening gift!

Opening an official savings account transitions kids from physical piggy bank savings to real-world money management.

One of the reasons Bank of New Hampshire’s I Love Saving Club is the best saving account for minors in the local community is that the account will grow with them. Parents can enroll children under 13 and watch them earn interest on savings with online banking instead of collecting coins in a piggy bank. Once your child becomes a teenager, they’re eligible for more options with their account, including Mobile Banking and a debit card for teens with BeMobile Deposit.1

Another benefit of starting a saving account for minors with BNH is banking locally with people who understand the needs of New Hampshire families. We’re passionate about taking care of our customers and each other, especially the next generation. We’re here to make you feel welcome, appreciated and educated about your finances.

What is a youth savings account?
A youth savings account allows children under 18 to put their piggy bank coins, allowance, or compensation from first jobs into a secure account that earns interest over time.
These accounts require a parent or guardian to open. Bank of New Hampshire offers two youth savings accounts: one for kids from birth through age 12 and one for teens age 13 through 17.

How do I open a youth savings account?
At BNH, you can open a kids or teens account online or by visiting a branch and bringing your government-issued ID, your child’s birth certificate and your child’s Social Security card.

What are the benefits of youth savings accounts?
As a bank with accounts for minors, Bank of New Hampshire offers savings accounts that teach financial literacy for youth. Having a savings account joined with a parent account can help children learn about the value of saving for the things they want and need, how interest works and how to gain financial independence as they age.
