Maddie Wunsch’s Career Journey at Bank of New Hampshire
A career at Bank of New Hampshire (BNH) often grows into a meaningful and rewarding profession. Maddie Wunsch’s journey began at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when finding employment was especially challenging due to widespread business closures. It was through a connection−her significant other’s aunt, a BNH Banking Office Manager−through whom she inquired about a teller opportunity. That conversation marked the beginning of what would become a career in banking.
In this Employee Spotlight, we celebrate Maddie’s professional growth−from her beginnings in our Retail Banking group to her current role in the Wealth Management division.
From Bank Services Representative to Wealth Management Client Support Specialist
Maddie joined BNH in 2021 as a Bank Services Representative at our Laconia office. In that role, she built a solid foundation of knowledge and skills that would support her career growth. After a year and a half, she transitioned into our Wealth Management division, where she currently serves as a Wealth Client Support Specialist.
In this position, Maddie provides administrative and operational support to both the Wealth Management Relationship Administrators and Wealth Advisors. Her responsibilities help ensure smooth client interactions and efficient day-to-day operations.
Why Bank of New Hampshire?
Maddie was seeking a role that offered not just a paycheck, but stability, great benefits and room for advancement. After expressing interest in the teller position, she was encouraged by how much the Branch Manager enjoyed working for BNH and the long tenure she had there.
Growing Professionally and Personally
When asked how BNH has supported her professional growth, Maddie shared that she’s become much more socially outgoing. “I was able to break out of my shell by meeting new people and developing relationships with my coworkers,” she said.
In addition to growing more confident, Maddie has gained exceptional customer service skills and expanded her capabilities in other areas of banking.
Forging Friendships
Throughout her time at the bank, Maddie has developed many valued friendships. While working in the Retail Banking department, she quickly felt like part of the Laconia Team, where she enjoyed planning themed trivia events and decorating the office for the holidays.
She also enjoys volunteering at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion on behalf of the Bank during the summer concert season, allowing her the opportunity to interact with customers in a fun, engaging setting.
A Career That’s Encouraging
When asked to describe her career in one word, Maddie chose encouraging.
“There are always opportunities for growth throughout the organization. That’s what makes it so encouraging−there’s always a next step to take.”
Advice for Aspiring Professionals
Maddie’s advice to those starting their own career journey is “be open-minded. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and have a positive mindset.”
